i have a customer with an electra elite 192 with the VRS voicemail (it's an in the skin vmail with active voice software).

does anyone know where i can get the software to connect my pc the db9 serial port on the vmail card. i've seen it used, it's an active voice software product, perhaps someone has a copy.

i need to get into the vmail and make change where pressing 1 in the main menu dials an extension, i don't think i can do this using the telephone.

your help is appreciated.

Are you sure it's a VRS and not a VMS?
VMS is voice mail with mail boxes and CCR
VRS is for queing with a CCR...you need to progam a VRS from a set I believe.
Open cabinet and look for part Number VMS or VRS at the front of the card left side (you might even have both)

it's a VMS 4 port voicemail autoattendant. i think i can use cosessions (luckily i have a copy), any idea on the communication paramters?

what software do you use?

I also have a setup along the same line using a NEC
Elite 48 using a 4 port VMS in slot 7 ......we have
a copy of Cosessions (Remote) can we use this as a
HOST setup ...using the DB9 cable (8,NONE,1,9600 ??)
provided with the VMS 4 port ....voicemail is working as follows:

port 17 x200 master icm fwds to x201
port 18 x201 icm fwds to x202
port 19 x202 icm fwds to x203
port 20 x203

all 4 ports are defined as DIG and not Tel

voicemail is picking up but can not log in
as system mgr (632 NEC) through the phone

its looks like a active replay voicemail from the CD
transactions , operator mailboxes and so on.

This Voicemail was bought on the secondary market
from a reseller and was not defaulted (old Greeting playing )do you have to define what switch type it
is behind Elite 48 / 192
according to Programming CD:

Default login : Amy Ronk
ID 632 (NEC)

any and all help would be great

I'm not sure how to crack/default the vmails.

When logging into cosession...default is NEC and no password.

Sorry this forum is still new therefore not visited much y and I am not up on the voice mails yet Im afraid.

Ok first for the guy that has cosession, you need to edit the default connection and put in a username and password.
Username voice
Password support
then you should be able to connect to woice mail system. this is not the logon screen this is just for cosession.

for anyone that does not have a copy of cosession you should contact your vendor or look around you should have some disk.

okay. thanks, i did not know about the user name.

a couple of questions:

when i open up cosessions remote, i click on phone book and then i see two setup options, one for serial and one for remote CoSession viewer. Only in Cosession viewer setup do i see a place put a username and password, in the serial setup is where I put the 19.2 bps, 8N1. is this correct

for me to log into the vmail, i believe there is admin mailbox and password (which I already know), are these required to get into the system configuration?

once I get into the vmail system, I plan to do a Control T to list all transaction boxes and then modify the transacation box $Greeting.

does all of this sound correct.

i am really impressed with this product, just need more support on the vmail, anyone know where i can get a manual?

i have a repratee manual, i think these are similar products

Also, in cosession be sure to choose 'VM/Remote' as the terminal type. voice/support is not required as user/pass for all versions either. If you don't have the admin password NEC can crack it for $50.

You can check if NEC is still the default by dialing it from the main greeting. You will use this same password from the cosession console once you connect.

good luck

where do i choose VM/Remote????

I have CoSessions Remote 7.0

I just checked my CoSession 7 and I guess it does not need to be set. I was thinking of the older DOS version.

Did you find out if NEC (632)works as the default password? If not, then there isn't much use in all this because you will
need the password just the same when you connect..

wouldn't the password be the same mailbox and password we use to log into the vmail using a phone?

Correct about the login. There was another post earlier in the thread that mentioned their default password not working..

re: the Transaction box $Greeting I think the VMS-4 might work like the older Repartee 6.x and have an application screen that you record the opening greeting on. I used to just make this 1 sec. of silence and then point to a Trans box anyway so that you can create a menu easier.

You can use the same Sys Admin login that you use with the phone DTMF login. The $Greeting box mentioned in the thread can be used for the one button push to the extension.
In system parameters, Page Down until you see what ports are answering calls and what Greeting is being used, you may see $GR, for greeting or another transaction box. Hit F6 key to go to Transaction Boxes and Page Down to $Greeting, make your changes and set the 1 button timer to 2 secs. Jerry Pannell

Once I loaded CoSessions onto my Laptop I was able to log
onto the VMS-4 .....looks just Repartee 6.x ..
on the side of the VMX-4 its software 6.68
* set all ports to Answer with $Greeting

*changed system Mgr to correct mailbox

*able to record day / night greetings
from console F4 "connect" local
F9 listen
F10 record

*set up system operator

default directory is set to 555
under applications line 59

set mailboxes to do a "Answer" rather the
"release' blind transfer so user don't have to
forward phones to VMS ....

Thanks for all the POSTS ....its been awhile since I
worked on one (work on mostly LUCENT products)

okay it worked, phew, i needed a crossover cable, duh

how can i change ring tones on these digital telephones, each set is different.

jsaad,

Go into program mode;
LK 4;
Dialpad 91;
Port number displayed at upper left corner
LK 1 is for medium
LK 2 is for low
LK 3 is for high
TRF to write

Hope this helps Jerry Pannell

to follow up, we could only connect using a win 98 machine and not a win 2k pc.

also, can I get caller ID analog trunk cards for this system?

You may want to check the version software installed also.
Version depends on what Caller ID features will work and how how many sets.
Good Luck. Jerry Pannell
