NEC - Electra Elite IPK question

We recently got a new phone system (Electra Elite IPK) and we were told that it was possible to tape phone conversations and then be able to move then to a hard copy (ie CD, hard drive, etc.) in case we needed it for some legal issue.

Is this also possible to do for voicemail messages?

I have a user who received a voicemail message that he'd like to make a copy of it so he can forward it to a lawyer.

I can't see how you can make a copy of an actual conversation but not be able to make a copy of a voicemail. Being in the computer field I just assumed that all messages are saved in .wav format in the system.

Please advise.

The Elitemail system uses some other type of audio format and to be honest, I can't remember it off of the top of my head. We seldom, if ever use an application such as you described.

One quick fix that I can think of, if this message is time sensitive goes as follows;
1. Build a new mailbox and give the lawyer access via MB# and default password.
2. Set-up outcalling to the spare telephone under message notification. Flag to send notification with each message.
3. Send a couple of test messages to the mailbox to insure the attorney is able to retrieve the messages.
4. Forward the sensitive message to that mailbox. When the attorney receives the call he will enter 9+XXX followed by his password. Then follow the system prompts.

I know of very few attorneys that are not very capable of recording calls coming into their own offices. Just ask my ex's lawyer.......

This will insure that the original message is still archived and the message to be reviewed is a copy. Good Luck!

EliteMail CTI with Viewmail for Microsoft Messaging.

Live Record - to record voice conversations directly into your mailbox

and then..

Those messages will show up in Outlook as wav file attachments which you can distribute.

You can set up a tape recorder (or PC sound card) interface on the phone. Then just listen to the message normally and record it to the tape recorder or PC. I think the interface is like $50.

Freeness has the easiest solution. I'm in australia and I've had a similar issue. We used the adapters (ADA adapters) and then you just need to run a cable from underneath the phone where the adapter plugs in to the mic input on a sound card of a PC. In aus the adapter is only about $70 and the cable is about $2.

The Lawyer just called in and recorded the message through his system. Seems like the easiest way to get around the problem.
