NEC Electra Elite Call Forward Question 2

Hi,

I have an NEC Electra Elite phone system, and I am trying to forward calls from my main administration phone to another extension.

I am able to have only *internal* calls forwarded by dialing "41 + ext#" or "43 + ext#" or "FEATURE + 60 + ext# + FEATURE".

However, I have not been able to have *external* calls be transferred this way -- they ring only to the main administration phone.

Any thoughts or suggestions?

Thank you in advance....

Only calls directed to that specific extension will be forwarded. If calls are ring assigned to multiple phones (memory block 4-01) then the call won't follow the call forward..

Use a delay ring in 4-01, 4-02 at the other phones.

Thanks very much to Shardian and Fixin for jumping in with suggestions!

Please excuse my ignorance, but let me please try to understand what you are saying/suggesting:

1. My main administrative phone is currently set up to ring when receiving outside calls at that extension (100) and other extensions 104, 105, and 106.

2. Since it is set to ring at these other locations, too, I *cannot* have outside calls forwarded from the main administrative phone to, say, another extension (110).

3. However, an internal call that is directed only to the main administrative phone can be forwarded to a new extension.

4. If there is a way to forward these calls to the new extension, I would ideally like to do that.

5. If I cannot forward those calls, you have suggested that I add the new extension on a delayed ring. Any detailed suggestions would help, as I am a bit of a novice:

(a) How do I add the new extension as one that rings when the main administrative phone rings?

(b) How do I make that extension have a delayed ring?

6. Do you know whether there are programming guides/user guides/manuals on the internet, as I seem to have misplaced my materials.

Thanks so much for your help!

Get into programming mode and then press line key 4. (4th from the left, top row).

You should see something like:
01/01:RNG DY |01

The first 2 digits are the port you are changing settings for. the CONF key will increase this. The second 01 is the memory block. The 01 at the end of the screen indicates that you are working on the first page of your lines.

To make a phone to ring immediately (with the reception phone) find the port of the phone that you want to add (feature 4 while handset is idle..last 2 digits are the port number) by pressing conf. When you get to it, you will probably notice that none of the line keys are lit. For every line that you want to ring, press its corresponding line key. EG if you want line 7 to ring on that phone, press line key 7 so the key is green. Do this for all required lines and then press transfer and then speaker.

If you want to make a phone delay ring, do exactly the same, except press each key twice so the key is red.

Green indicates immediate ring, red indicates delay.

This link is for quite a few NEC manuals, but its only got a few that'll be any good to you. Worth a look though.

Hope it helps.

Shardian, you are awesome. Thanks!

Just a couple of follow up questions, as I am a simple, stupid phone programming neophyte. :)

1. How do I get into "programming mode"?

2. What is a "memory block"? Is that something I need to worry about/adjust?

3. I think I understand all of your other instructions, but how do I adjust the length of the delayed ring? (I would like about a 4-ring delay.)

Thanks, again -- you are really helping me out and building tremendous good karma!!

1. I'm in aus so I don't know if its the same but I get into programming from any phone by pressing:
Feature #0* 8974.

2. Memory blocks are where all the programming of the system is done and saved.

3. To alter the delayed ring time, once you are in programming mode, press line key 1 twice, then dial 77 on the key pad.
You should see:
77:DRING(1) =15s
This is saying that the delay ring timer is set to 15 seconds. Just type in on the keypad the length of time that you want and then press transfer and then speaker.

That should do it i think...

Hmm...sounds great!

I'm assuming I don't have to do anything other than hang up to exit *out* of programming mode -- if that's not the case, could you please let me know?

I still haven't located a programming guide on the internet, so if you see one, I would be grateful if you let me know.

Thank you so much for your help!

Cheers!

Pressing the speaker button will take you out of programming mode. Its the same as lifting the handpiece and replacing it really. Either will do the job but I find it easier to use the speaker button.

I've got an old version 6 axis and master (thats what we call that system in aus) on one of my laptops somewhere. If you want I should be able to email it to you. Only thing is, its pretty big. Just under 10 meg. If you got an email account that can recieve that much let me know, other wise I can zip and split it and then send in smaller chunks if thats preferable....

That would be great and I would be grateful! Please send the manual to lemonbox05-address@yahoo.com when you get a chance. I can handle that size of file.

Thanks so much for your help -- I'll let you know the end result!

We have the NEC phone system as well.

We use regular business lines and require that you dial a 9 to get an external line then dial your number.

The reason I am writing is because it sounds like you are doing what I hope I can do.

I need to forward calls that come in to 1 ext. to an outside line. Did you have success with this?

I have tried the Feature 60 fwd number feature and this causes us volume problems, from what I understand this is like creating a conference call but I need to be able to forward calls to a 3rd party phone number and have multiple get forwarded at a time.

Is this similar to yours?

Any suggestions on how to handle the dial out to a 3rd party phone number would be great.
