how does the ds1000 compare to nec's elite line? mostly Im concerned about reliability.. does anyone have any comment regarding the ds1000/2000? thanks

I have installed several ,in the last couple years ,no problems customers love them,In small offices ,they are great most of my installs have been like 4 c.os ,and I use the other programmable keys for DSS buttons because they are lit buttons it works great. Customers in small offices like Caller ID ,and the analog ports. In a couple I have installed answering machines as backup for operator NOTE: THE RINGER EQUIVALENCY NUMBER FOR THE ANSWERING MACHINE <MUST BE .10 ,Most of the cheap digital answering machines are only .05)I recently installed DS2000 with Intramail ,Works Great! For the Money ,They Can't be Beat.

The DS1000 & 2000 are pretty decent switches, but are not a true NEC product. They were developed and sold as Nitsuko before the NEC buyout. We are a dealer for both lines of the NEC product, but prefer to sell true NEC product if possible. The Aspire system is part of the same division that was Nitsuko, but was developed after the buyout and is very similar in design to the NEC products. However, the Aspire will be in the same price point as the Elite IPK.

I love the DS1K/2K. With the IntraMail system, you can't beat it. The caller ID passing to the Analog ports (no other major brand KSU does this) makes it a great choice for a Res or commercial environment. I am using an 8-slot 2k on a 50-user car dealership with the new T1 card. The new PC Programming makes it even easier.

Actually, this system goes back to before Nitsuko. They are based on the old, blue TIE DM16. I get referals from NEC for people still using the TIE originals, and need a phone repaired, finally. 20+ years is pretty reliable, especially for a phoneset.
