Hey everyone,

We have several routing mailboxes set up to route callers to one of several mailboxes. Obviously a caller cannot leave a message at the routing mailbox. But we have run into a situation where a person can foward a message to the routing mailbox. Is there any way to disable this so no messages can be forwarded to it?

Thanks in advance.

Try having the owner of the routing box have 0 seconds of recording time available in their mail box.

Nope doesnt work... It does prevent me from calling and leaving a message but it doesnt prevent me from forwarding a message to that mailbox...

Any other ideas?

Try setting up the transfer options for the routing box, transfer all the messages to the operator/receptionist.

You can talk about us, but you can't talk without us.

I suppose i could do that.. but then my operator would have to go through all of the messages. I would rather have it so they just cant forward a message to the mailbox.... there has to be a way to do this it doesnt make sense for these mailboxes to get voicemails.

Can you change the name and ID to have a $ in front of it? Then you cant redirect because the $ cant be reproduced with a touch tone.

Nope that wont work. We implemented this on a pre-existing system so we used numbers that people already knew. We allow them to dial an extension of a routing mailbox if they know it so they can transfer someone to the appropriate one.

There isnt a bit or something that can be set to not allow it?

Yea i tried that... it stops anyone that calls in from leaving a message but does not stop anyone from forwarding a message to that mailbox.

Change these call routing mailboxes as "Fixin" explained then use Extension remap in the AD64 to route the incoming extentsion number to the new mailbox.
You'll find this feature under ports in the AD64.
Set the "Call type" to "Called Numbers Only" and enter in the incoming extension number. Then in the "To" box put in the routing mailbox extension. Don't know if this will work with the $ though. If not change the routing mailbox number to something like 99999999 or another inconceivable number that someone would never think to forward a message to.
