Having problems sending MWI through serial MCI link. WE can set the MWI lamp when making a call from phone to phone, but when our gateway sends the MWI packet to a phone, it will not set the lamp, however we do see the packet being sent. Is there a Sys (on switch)or SFC (on phone) setting that enables or turns it off?

This used to work about 6-12 months ago. We have not changed programming to the serial MCI link, and everything else works on the link.

Connect a PC up with hyperterm to the MCI cable from the PBX. Usually it's 9600, n, 8, 1.Place a test call. You should see a "J" packet. If that is working, then the problem is not with the PBX. Many times the com port on the VM goes bad and it cannot receive or send packets. Depending on the VM and VM PC you may be able to switch to a second com port. See if the cable got pinched under the floor (if you have a raised floor).
If you see nothing from the PBX, then try resetting the IOC card, or reprogram MCI to another IO port.
