Is connecting to an NEC 2400 HDS/IMS possible via Hyperterminal/PuTTY?

I am using PuTTY instead of Hyperterminal on Windows 7 64 bit and have success connecting up to my 2000's and 1000's via the modem, but I can't send any commands once I connect to my 2400 HDS. The same modem can connect fine on my Windows 98 PC to the same 2400 HDS, so I don't believe the modem to be an issue.

I thought so, but had my fingers crossed. Thx belevedere.

So with all that said, has anyone connected on a Win 7 or 10 64 bit system? Or what about 32 bit?

Thanks again.

HDS systems used a DOS MAT. We came up with ways to get it loaded on a WIN 98 machine, but not so much on a WIN 7. Certainly not on a 64 bit WIN 10. We always kept an old PC around just for the older systems.

Understood. The 1000's and 2000's use DOS MAT too and I can issue commands without the app via PuTTY, so I was hopeful. I'll build a Windows 7 32 bit PC and test to see if I can get the DOS MAT working. I have a Win 98 system working fine, but I need something with internet connectivity that isn't super vulnerable.

It may just be that the program won'r install on the newer operating systems. But it is good to remember that this is a DOS program so if you can get a virtual machine set up running XP, it can be possible to copy everything across from an older machine install and have it run. I had the challenge of getting Cosessions running on a windows 8 machine and managed it even though the program would not install directly on to the virtual machine. See here for details.....
