Scenario:

Call received at Station A and that station is busy. Need to have that call forward to 3rd party voice mail with an MCI link, but I need to set many extensions to forward to voice mail on busy and when the call is received at the voice mail port have all calls deliver the same extension number to reach a single mailbox.

Typically when we need to do this on other phone systems, we would forward Station A on busy to a "virtual" extension number. We would then permanently forward the "virtual" extension to voicemail and have the mailbox associated with the "virtual" number.

What is happening on the NEC is when this "double-forward" scenario occurs, Station A's extension number is always sent to the voice mail.

Is there a way to accomplsh this in the NEC?

Thanks.

Brett

The initial number dialed will be the number sent to the VM. What you are trying to do is up to the capabilities of the VM system. Some VM systems have an automatic message forward feature that can send messages from other mailboxes to the same one. Others have an extension remapping feature that can change the incoming extension number to a different mailbox number.
