I work at a large church and I have a nec 2000ips pbx with a neax 64 voice mail. Our school's main DID number rings in on one of two virtual line at extension 2256 in the school office. The virtual lines are 2511 & 2512. When busy or no answer both lines should go to voice mail on ext 2256. All of a sudden the virtual lines no longer go to voice mail ...the just ring and ring.I can't seem to figure out why or where to look for the problem.

Any suggestions would be helpful.
 
Sounds like they lost the forwarding.
If the default numbering plan is still intact the user could have access the lines and dialed #6 effectively cancelling the forwarding.
The default code to set the forwarding is *6 followed by the destination for busy/no answer.
You will need to busy the first to the second and both no answer to the VM with the second also busy to the VM

CM E601>2511>2512
CM E601>2512>VM pilot
 
The default codes are still in place.
I tried that but instead of going to the voice mail of extension 2256 it kicks back to our default auto attendant message. I will try it again tomorrow. My temporary solution ... build a box for 2511 so all messages will be taken until the problem can be solved.

I am still learning this system since the install in February.

That is correct.
The call will always trail the ID of the station it rang first.
In this case the virtual 2511 was the termination point so it will send integration to the VM for that number.
If you want the messages to then be in the mailbox of 2256 you would need to have the VM forward them to 2256 or make 2511 a transaction mailbox (if you have neax mail) with 2256 being the owner of that box.
