We are switching carriers. The new carrier has asked questions I am not sure how to answer.

We have a NEC 2000 IPS. What can you tell me about the 2000 IPS in relation to:
Switch Type? ISDN Switch Type?
Framing? is it ESE
Line Coding Is is B82S
B-channel is it ASC or DSC
Forward - does the system use 3, 4, 7, or all numbers

I can dial into the PBX and I have matworks. Where can I find this info?

Thanks
Melanie

A typical PRI would be B8ZS, ESF, Ni2. The DID incoming digit length can be 2, 3 or 4 digits. Most carriers send all digits and the IPS takes the last ones according to your programming.

Look at for some good cheat sheets.

Thank you.
I have never been asked this before by a carrier.

The specs you gave were bang on. We did the cut over yesterday and the carrier wanted me to verify the settings. I told them what I gave them (above) were the default settings for our NEC IPS 2000. I had no way to know if it were any different since no one had ever asked before. The cut over was seamless which had never happened before.

THanks again.

You are welcome, and thank you for posting the outcome. Many times we never know if our suggestions help.
