I need help accessing a NEC 2000 IPS. At the moment you have a PC with Windows XP where MATWORX is installed, but it does not have a serial cable for access.
From what I understand, the old technician connected an RJ11 cable from an extension to the PC's modem and made the connection.
What would this procedure be like to access via fax modem on the PC?
I would also like to know if anyone would have the technical diagram for assembling the nec 2000 IPS programming cable?

n the short term, the most important thing I really need to do is find out which type of signaling E1 is using, whether it is ISDN or R2, as the customer has switched operators.

Thx for the helper

NEC used a proprietary end to connect o the CPU. The pinouts probably will not help you. You can use a MAT-CA-P, MAT-CA=T or a RVS-CA.
Try ebay to locate a cable.
I have some left over from my days working on the system.

Oh my, it just took me about two weeks to reconstruct my cable (I lost it and my rs232 usb adapter) I will see if I can recover my info next week but you will need the proprietary connector as Belvedere says. That said, if you have a built in modem (or USB adapter, quite cheap on Ebay) you can use an analogue extension off the system (or PSTN line if available) to dial "remotely" into the system if you know the system modem number. One note here is not all USB rs232 adapters work and you can't modify a Cisco cable to do the job because Cisco don't use one of the connections needed by the NEC (at least in my experience). Oh and whilst I was rebuilding mine, I did see one available on Ebay so it may be worth a look. I didn't buy it because my lead set is modular so that the same PC end along with a patch lead and custom system ends work everything I work on. The Idea being if I need to work further away from the system, I can just use a longer patch lead.
