Hi!

Our system is a NEAX2000IPS with E1/R2, we are experiencing some inconsistency on some analog and digital extensions.

Scenario 1: When calling and extension from an internal phone, a successful ringing and connection is completed

Scenario 2: When calling from an outside line to an extension, either through the Auto-attendant, transfer, or DID, the extension called rings half cadence ring prior to stopping, upon lifting, the line is disengaged. The caller continues to hear ringing This goes for the analog and digital line.

This is not a system wide issue, only for some extensions. Any thoughts? Also, as we are adding voice/trunk cards, how do you extract the unused license.

thanks in advance!

Are the extensions affected on the same circuit card?
as we are adding voice/trunk cards, how do you extract the unused license. ??
Port licensing is done by PIM. 64 ports per PIM. How many PIMs do you have, and do you have spare card slots available?

Hi Belevedere,

As always, appreciate the information, we have 2 pimms, and these are all isolated to 2 or 3 extension with different card type. Would this count as a defective port?

Thanks!

Possibly, I'd connect the phones directly to the demarcation block just to eliminate the possibility of it being a cable issue.

Hi Belevedere,

Thanks for the information and guidance, yes it was a defective port and we moved it to a vacant port and worked!

Hi Belevedere,

It seems the extension problem has resurfaced... again local to local calls are good but when receiving outside calls, either through the AA, transferred or DID, it provides 2 rings and stops, but the caller still hears ringing.

Any thoughts on this?

Again many thanks!

Possibly a defective card. If this has not been done yet, reset the system. Note which cards/ports have the issue, and which PIM they are in. Could be an FP card, however you would see other issues if it was.

sounds like a memory issue, to resolve delete the ext off the port example
10>XXX>CCC Delete the ext number in programming before moving or reassigning the ext assign ,multiple phantom ext's
10>500>F900
10>501>F901
10>502>F902
then reassign the correct ext in a usable port.

This will keep in "corrupt" memory in use and the new assigned station will use new memory.
p.s. never delete those ext's they are corrupt

Mextera

Keep in mind you will have to re-program any button assignments and other station settings. ie:class of service, any DIT's, hunt/pickup gps, etc. Once you 'ccc' the extension all of those settings are gone.
