We use Mitel Nupoint Messenger with our NEAX 2000 IVS for voicemail.
Is there a cheap pc-based voicemail server that will work with the NEAX?
asterisk?

Thanks,
Derek

Call NEC Sales engineering and ask them if the "Mitel Nuport Messenger" has been “Fusion Certified" by NEC? If it has, it will work on NEC products; if not, there is no guarantee that the "Mitel Nuport Messenger" will work.

Mitel DOES work, because that is what we are currently using.
We want to upgrade/replace the Mitel with, say, an asterisk box.

NEC now sales the the AD-64 and AD-120, there is also an in-skin v-mail system that if there is room in the system you might look at. Call your NEC rep.

I really wanna ditch NEC since locally there is only one service vendor. We ditched Bellsouth for Xspedius, and lost support for NEC from BSouth. Bellsouth moved to nortel and is only helping existing customers who use NEC.
ugh, so a non-nec option would be great.

There are many options available.
It will depend on the integraton you are using.
Is it MCI (Message Centre Interface/Serial link)or inband DTMF signalling?
If it is the later there are numerous systems.
If MCI there are also a larger number of vendors that support the NEC protocol.
Try and ask for Hugh. He's from New Zealand but a nice guy anyway. Very knowledgable on what I think you maybe looking for.
