We recently lost power due to a contractor's HVAC wiring problem which crippled our TOC and caused us to lose power to a number of systems including voicemail. The voicemail system has been working fine since we rebooted the machine except for one nusiance issue which is that previous to the power failure users were able to use the LCD navigation keys to listen to and delete messages from their phones. The phones are nec Dterm SeriesE with 8 buttons, the LCD will show that there are messages waiting, but when you dial the voicemail you can only navigate the messages by pressing the number keys and the navigation options like NEW OLD DEL and so forth do not appear on the LCD screen anymore. I tried looking over the manual but I have no idea what this feature is called, has anyone seen this happen before or knows how to fix it?

The soft keys get pushed to the pbx by the VM when it boots up. Unfortunately they go into volatile memory, so they have to be loaded each time the pbx is rebooted. In order to load them you have to connect a serial cable between the VM and the pbx CPU. There are two COM ports on the CPU, so we would have to check programming to verify the port that is setup for this capability. Once this is determined you simply reset the VM and they will be back. Verifying the programming is easy, but I expect that the problem you will have is getting a hold of the special serial cable that you will need. Whenever, I would install this system with the softkeys I left the cable connected permanently to avoid this issue, but if the dealer did not you may have to call them out to fix the issue.
