Let me preface this by saying that I am a network admin and know nothing of this phone system, I'm pretty sure it was put in before I was born. Anyhow, we have a Neax 2000 IVS system with Dterm Series E NEC phones. 2 of our lines now will not go to voicemail when rang. DND is not set on either line. Previously the company I work for would have some phone vendor come in and fix issues like this but I wanted to see if I could start learning a little something about this system since it appears we will have to use it until it dies. Could anyone enlighten me on what I should check or look for in troubleshooting these 2 lines?

Thanks.

Typically if a station does not get answered by voice mail ,then it is most likely not set to call forward to the voice mail extension. If there are no call forward buttons assigned on the phones then you need to find out what the call forward access codes are.

EX: To set call forward busy to VM (with the VM pilot number being 300). Go off hook on the extension, dial the call forward busy code (EX: *6) then dial the VM pilot 300. Hang up.
There are several CF options. Busy, NA (no answer) all and/or combined busy/NA. Each has a different access code to set and cancel.
I usually use *5 to set CF all, #5 to cancel
*6 for busy
*7 for NA.

Thank you for the quick reply, I'll let you know in a few if this fixes these. On the actual phones, when I pick up the head set the little LCD display that has the options FDA and FDN, these would have nothing to do with the call forward would they?

Here is a picture of what I'm talking about:

Alright, well it was *6 for N/A, *5 forwarded all calls as in it wouldn't even ring so not sure what that option is considered. *7 didn't do anything. Thanks for your help!

You have a FWD all and FWD NA key on the softkeys. When they appear you can press one, then type in the pilot number of the VM to set Call FWD. Press it again to cancel the forward. FWD all overrides any other forwarding. When you cancle FWD all the other Forward settings remain in place.
