We recently sent our our high school 4.11 server out for a "routine" 4.11-->5.1 upgrade.

Things went very wrong and we now have the server back with 4.11 still on it and instructions not to run NDS repair.

The head tech tells us that all 900 users and printing objects will have to be re-created. After they wipe the server and start from scratch.

Isn't there a utility or application to export 4.11 user and printer info and then reimport it into the new 5.1 tree?
Or maybe go export from 4.11 and import to recreated 4.11 then upgrade to 5.1?

Thanks in advance

The advise I would give is to open a Novell incident. If you already have and that was there advise then you may be stuck. If you haven't opened an incident then they may be able to dial-in and fix the problems. They have some seriously good tools that are only available to them. They have saved my customers nds's on a number of occations. Lee Smith

I support Lee's statement here. They can dial into the server and save NDS. Here's a catch though..if you have to recreate everything, I would recommend that you do a new Install of 5.1, keeping all the volumes etc the same..and NDS may be recovered, if not, the file structure will still be there and you can regrant rights as required.

Just a thought..
