I have a netware 5.1 server at home where I'm experimenting with NDPS. Thr problem is that my printer won't go into power saving mode. It keeps getting woken up. This is a laser printer (Brother HL-1440) and the savings would be significant if it slept when not in use.

The printer is connected via parallel cable to a jetdirect 500x external print server, connects via cat5 to a token ring hub and then to a madge pci presto 2000 NIC in my netware 5.1 server. Yeah yeah i know token ring but I got the print server for only $25, the hub for $15 and the card was pennies at a comp show when the ethernet models started at at least $100

I've looked throughout NWAdminiatrator at all NDPS related objects, the broke, manager, printer, gateway etc... and even the screens on the console. Kinda stumped here. Thanks

P.S. Is their a log or dump of all printer documents? I'd like to see what people in my house are sending to my printer. Thanks

This has to be an NDPS related issue. Because all I did was move the token ring card from a windows workstation and put it in the netware box and installed NDPS. When the setup was in the windows box, the printer slept until used it.

Could this also be an IPX related issue? My only other guess is the SAP and RIP advertisements keep waking up the printer?

Well I looked around and in HPGATE.nlm (which is my print server, serving as the Printer agent) there is an option "Status Update Interval" and then 2 options beneath that "when idle" and "when printing" I changed the idle setting from 15 minutes to 4 hours and now my printer only wakes up on those intervals. How important is this setting?

Also where can I find copies of the print jobs that my users create. I'd like to be able to open the documents that they have sent to the printer. Thanks.
