NDMP storage unti groups

I've been using NDMP with Veritas NBU since 3.4 and was very happy when I found out that with 4.5 I can let NBU automatically choose between different storage units. However, it would seem that NBU will go straight down the list of storage units within a group, and not offer preference to a client's own tape drives. According to the admin guide, preference of storage units is given first to a client's own tape drives, then down the list based on list. This does not seem so with NDMP storag units, as all the drives are technically on the master server. Does anyone else know this to be the case. Any work arounds? Thanks.
