NDMP Backup of Snapshots vs. Live Volumes

We currently using both methods. I'm looking for pros and cons of both. Would like to implement one way as a standard. My environment:
NetBackup 6.5.4
Solaris 10 Master, 6 Solaris Media servers.
NDMP bkups of NetApp 3050, 3070's
200 mixed platform farm. (Wintel, Solaris, Linux)
