Hello Tek-tips,

First, I have Legato Networker backup version 6.1.3. It is backing out Netapp filer via NDMP. The server is Solaris 8, NW install on this server. NDMP connection is direct from auto loader to Netapp. Now my question is: I would like to know does ndmp can do exclusions? either file(s) or directory(ies). If not, does the newer release Networker7.1 support this? Any comments I will appreciated.

Thanks,

C-

No, not to my knowledge. Do not forget that you deal "with a client that
has no client software installed". Consequently, the fundamental piece
which can understand (exclude) directives is simply missing.

This of course applies to all versions.

Hello 605 !

Thank you for your respond. Yes, I though so too, but just want to hear a second opinion.

Thanks,

Some NDMP specifications do support the EXCLUDE option. NetWorker does support it, although I haven't tested it...you certainly could try it with 6.x, and I'm sure it would work with 7.x.

If you are doing NDMP backups, there are a lot of fixes in NetWorker 7.1.1, so definitely use that version if possible.

The EXCLUDE= option would go in the application information field of a given client object, and is supported by NetApp and BlueArc, and possibly some others. Check the docs on your NAS to find out if it is supported.
