Not sure if this has already been asked but I hope somebody can help?
I have a Windows 2003 server running NBU 6.0MP2 as the Master Server with several NBU clients attached running various multiple OS platforms i.e UNIX, Windows 2003 etc. A few days ago one of our Wintel guys introduced a new client which is running Windows 2008 R2 he installed the NBU 6.0MP2 client, so far so good, the problem begins when we noticed that the backup appeared to be backing up mystery data, over 100GB when in fact the new client only contains 35GB worth of data?
The first thing I checked was compatibility of the NBU 6.0MP2 client on a Windows 2008 R2 server, as per the Netbackup readme.txt file I found the following -
VERITAS NetBackup Client
for Microsoft Windows
Version 6.0
August, 2005
II. SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS
To install NetBackup on a PC workstation under Microsoft Windows
NT, you must have the following configuration:
- Microsoft Windows NT version 4.0 SP 6a or later including Windows
2000 SP 2 and Windows 2003
- Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.5 or later
- An Intel 80486 or later processor
- Any TCP/IP transport that is Windows Sockets Compliant (Use
the TCP/IP transport that comes with Windows NT Server)
- A network board supported by your TCP/IP transport
- NetBackup - You must have the NetBackup server software Version 6.0
or later installed on your NetBackup server
So I guess my question would be is compatibilty causing mystery data to be backup up, or is there another underlying problem here?
Thanks in advance for any help that may be forthcoming.
