Navigation Bar - How to make one?

If you have 50 items and want to display only 10 items per page and want to display the navigation bar at the bottom of each page like "1 2 3 Next>>" - how to do this?

That's usually acheived with a scripting language like PHP ro ASP which is calling a list out of the database.

Sometimes, when my code just won't behave, I take it outside and make it listen to britney spears music, and when it comes back it's really well behaved. I wonder if it's suffering from post tramatic stress syndrome now..
