navapsvc.exe is eating CPU cycles

Windows 2000, Norton Systemworks 2003. All Windows updates and service packs applied. All Norton Live updates applied.

With "auto protect" ON, navapsvc.exe process is using 30-50% of CPU time and between 3520KB and 14000KB memory - it seems to be varying continuously.

With "auto protect" OFF, CPU usage is below 5%.
Uninstalling and reinstalling program did not change this behavior.

Does anyone know what's going on here?
 
Try running a full system scan then see what autoprotect is doing.
