Our system has been attacked by the Netsky worm and NAV has stopped all instances of it from doing any damage. However i now have 35 thousand VBN files in the quarantine folder. I can not open NAV to delete them as there are so many and it keeps crashing. Is there any safe way of deleting these files? I was thinking about deleting them direct from the c drive but i am unsure about what may happen. Any advice would be useful.

Have you tried deleting while in Safe Mode?

I have taken the advice of Lawnboy and deleted them directly and it seems to be ok. Thanks for all your help.
