On laptops running XP pro and NAV 7.6, I have noticed that the Norton Antivirus yellow shield icon in the systray has an exclamation mark over it. I can find no reference to a problem in the program itself and am able to do live updates, schedule scans etc.. the only problem is that I am unable to scan any of the drives, I get the error message....

"Norton AntiVirus could not access the scan engine. Please ensure the product is installed correctly."

this happens as any user, or administrator so am not convinced that it is a permissons problem. Re-installing seems to cure it and they all work OK so far, but it is becoming a pain. Does anyone have any idea? All donations gratefully recieved

there is a problem with nav corp 7.61 and Win XP...I have had the same problems....the sollution is to uninstall the program and then do a manual cleanup of your regedit, deleting all key entrys connected to symantec norton, and then delete the directorys in program files and in program files\common files...if that does not work, then you will probably need to reinstall Win XP.

The problem originated from having installed diffrent versions of norton antivirus software prior to the corp version !!

hope this works for you
