Hi,

I'm trying to install NAV 7.6 onto a Windows 2003 server. The problem is when I try to install the AV software onto the server the files copy OK, but the system hangs on on the status of preparing server. I have tried to uninstall/reinstall but still receive the same result.

Has anyone any ideas ?

Hi, I could be wrong, but my documentation said that support for Windows Server 2003 didn't appear until version 8.1 (which by then was called Symantec AntiVirus corporate edition). I couldn't find any references in the knowledgebase that addressed installing 7.6 on any server product newer that Windows 2000. I believe that there were significant changes between those o/s versions and that's what your problem is. sorry, maybe someone else can prove me wrong...

I agree with mradmin. We are upgrading all of our servers to W2k3 and all of my findings point to installing 8.1.314 version now called Symantec antivirus or higher. Symantec just came out with 9.0 which has some improvments. I have found installing SAVCE 8.1.314 has had some problems. But I have figured out a way to install without issues. You may have a problem with the Symantec Antivirus Server service not starting completely but at a hanging status or 'starting' not 'started'. If this is found to be your case also, just post and I will describe my work around for this..
