NAV 2007 Slows me down

I have NAV 2007 installed on 3 machines at home and since installing ALL of them run at a much slower rate.
For instance. On 1 machine I did a total factory restore and timed the boot up from switch on until the HDD LED stopped flashing. It took approx 90 seconds.
I then installed NAV 2007 and it now takes 450 seconds (that's 7 1/2 minutes !!) and 5 times slower. It also takes a long time to run any program.

Any ideas as to what I can do to improve the speed of my machine.

NAV is a MAJOR resource hog! If you have 512 MB of RAM or less, forget about it. Try AVG Antivirus or Avast Antivirus. They are free and work much better. Also, I would ditch 2007. It's an unstable program.
