Native UPS Support?? 1

I can't put my hands on a Windows 7 machine to answer my own question and I can't seem to find it on the intrawebz, so:

Is there native UPS support via USB cable in Windows 7 to shut down the PC?? Or do you have to run the manufacturer's software?

I would be surprised if native UPS support was removed, but I can't find any references to it so.........

Thanks - you know I think I came across that article but thought it was too bloviated.

I don't know why they would have removed it from the UPS tab - it seem so clean, so crisp.
