Sorry if this has been answered before, but it's not in the FAQ for either this area or the Win XP area (and Tek-Tips search is down at the moment).
Is there an update to Windows XP Pro (SP2) to allow it to natively configure 802.11g a wireless card in full 802.11g mode? (I don't want to run it in 802.11b mode).
In particular I need the card to use WPA-PSK with TKIP and to connect only to my wireless router (not any old access point that happens to be active in the area).
At present I still use the driver/utility that shipped with the adapter, but it only runs when I log on. If the device is physically connected when the computer boots, Windows tries (and sometimes succeeds!) to connect to a nearby open access point. This happens even though I have disabled the Windows Zero Configuration service.
Any advice/help/pointers will be gratefully received.
