NAT WAN IP - NAT IP from another Router? Possible?

I have a new 1841, I want to test it on our existing network.
I want to set up NAT.
I already have a DHCP server running 172.16.1.1 on FA0/1
connecting to a 2950 switch.
I tried to Set up NAT with the SDM on FA0/0.
With a private IP of the other linksys router up stream.
IP - 192.168.168.205
DNS I just used the same IP address.

From the 172.16.1.X network I can ping the 192.168.168.205.
Problem is I cannot go the next hop to the internet.
Any ideas as to why?
I know on cheap routers you can feed WAN interface with a private IP and it will work.
This is just so that I can test QOS.

So your network setup is:

"Your internet router" <-------"switch?" <-----"1841" <------2950 <------PC?

Is this correct?

Your saying you can't ping the "internet router" from the pc on the 172.16.1.0 network? Or are you saying you can't ping out to the next hop on the internet after your internet router?

Maybe post a scrubbed config as well.
 
First off, double NAT is a horrible idea. The LinkSYS is NATting already.

Second, you need

ip route 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 192.168.168.205 in the 1841(if this is the LinkSYS ip address connecting to the 1841).

You will also need to add the 172.16.1.0/xx route in the LinkSYS.
