I have the following three lines in the config for on my backbone router....

>ip nat pool natip 10.0.0.2 10.0.0.2 netmask 255.240.0.0
>ip nat inside source list 1 pool natip overload
>ip nat inside source static 192.168.213.2 10.0.0.2

I didn't set this router up and I don't really know much about cisco nats...can someone tell me exactly what these 3 lines are doing? The reason this came up is my boss decided to try a demo of whatsup gold and it keeps saying 10.0.0.2 is down.

Those are lines used to create a Network Address Translation. One is a pool from which to pull addresses from, the other is saying what pool to use and allow for multiple use of the same ip address (example 10.0.0.2:1000,10.0.0.2:1001 etc). The last one is a static source for what ip addy should be changed. So anything with address 192.168.213.2 is changed to 10.0.0.2

As for whatsup not sure what it is reporting to you, never used it.
