Hello All,

I want to setup a simple system to handle Port Address Translation for me. I seem to remember long ago someone showing me a box they had running on a very simple OS (it actually ran off of a floppy) that just did his NAT for him. Does any one have any suggestions for something like this.

Or even a good (free if possible) program that can be used on either Windows or Linux to do that. Doesn't have to do anything fancy, just point requests on port 25 to server x and requests on port 80 to server y.

Thanks in advance,

Daniel Joaquin

IPMasquerading in Linux will do that. All distributions come with it.

FloppyFW is probably the IPMasquerading distribution that you saw running.

But there are numerous other distros that will do similar things.

Thanks for the help. I remembered which one he was using. It was Coyote Linux. I did look around the FloppyFw site too and it looks good as well.

There is actually a link on the FloppyFW site to an article that compares the two programs.

Personally I don't know any Linux so I am going to go with the Coyote Linux because it has a web interface. But as the article points out that could be a possible vulnerability so people who know Linux might want to go with FlopyFW.

Thanks,
Daniel
