In a couple of months I will be setting up a few
networks inside of a hotel for a trade show. These networks
will need internet connectivity for the attendees vpn,
email... The # of clients on the inside combined should not exceed 225 and there will be no routing protocols used.
How DHCP will be handeled is still up in the air.
These networks will then transverse the hotels network
out to the real world.
The hotel will have about 6-8 public ip's for my use. My question is, A)would using NAT overloading on the inside
global work and what if any dns issues should I be aware of
if this is used.

Thanks, Jerry

u can overload to the global address, located on your serial interface if u will be using a leased line connection...

all u need for overloading, is one IP address... however, u can also overload specific parts of the hotel network onto one of the several IPs u have been assigned...

however, with a VPN in the picture, u may need to learn more about the users' requirements...

DNS and other main stream protocols are all comfortably covered by the NAT..

good luck..

Correct me if I'm wrong anyone, but you may encounter a problem with ipsec vpn clients including Cisco's. I was always under the assumption that you may need a 1 to 1 nat for these clients. If you only have 6-8 legal ip addresses some people may not be able to use their ipsec client. Just a thought to consider and any additional comments would be useful to me as well.
