Hi,

I've got a puzzle to solve that has to do with the arp table I bealive. I've got a few machines on the netwok that can be accessed directly from the internet, they have public addresses assigned using static command on the pix, that has been setup during the initial configuration. NAT has been implemented, all other machines use global address to access internet.
- I'm trying to add a static mapping for one more machine using public address - the machine now is using global address like all others
- I add static command to pix config mapping public address to this machine's private address
- the machine doesn't go through the firewall no more - no internet connectivity
- I remove static mapping - same thing - no outside connectivity
- I change the machines private address - it can connect again
Any clues to as what is causing the problem?

You might need to do a clear arp on your Internet router.

The command cleared the table but failed to restore the connectivity on my client machine. Any ideas?

It seems to work with any of the private IP that is not staticly configured on the pix. That's why i figured the problem must be with the pix. Anytime I map an address static the machine loses connectivity altogether. I delete the mapping and change private IP it goes back to normal???
