We are looking @ different NAS solutions:

a. NetApps
b. EMC NS702G (We have a CLARiiON in place already for SAN)
c. A home grown NAS w/ just W2K3r2; Our chief architect indicated we can do NAS out of the box w/ r2 and WITHOUT Windows Storage Server2003. This sounds crazy to me. Any guidance/advise would be most helpful

thank!

You can build a file share, that is all he can do. He will not get the complete benefit of a NAS appliance.

Yeah...I kinda' figured that. The IOPS on the backend make a significant difference with the appliances. Just wanted to make sure. Have too many masters to appease! Thanks
