Hi,

We have a new NAS server: IBM N5200 Filers. We have to configure ftp on it etc..
I don't have any experience on nas and I was connected to the system and need some helps about documentation to understand and also the commands (I dont see on the list of commands the commands cd or ls etc.. (unix standards).
Well thanks in advance for any help.
Cheers
Al.

N-series is the IBM variant of the netapp hardware filer line.It runs its own operating system ( data ontap ),and has it own syntax. It is based upon a linux kernel, but does not leave you with a unix shell. So no cd or vi exist. Configuring ftp is done through commandline, try entering the command "options ftp".This will list you with the options of ftp and how they are configured. To change an option : options ftp.whateverparameter value.Do not expect ftp to be like an ftpserver you deploy onto a unix ( like with wsftpd, you have greater granularity concerning security). For the rest of the setup of the box : just type "setup", and it will guide you through the setup process. For the rest ...rtfm :) The manuals are more then thorough enough to set up your nas box correctly.

Thanks a lot. It is very very helpfull. I will check and have a look.
THANK YOU.
Cheers
Al.
