Hello,
I currently have NarrowCast installed and running for about 3-4 months, since then I have noticed our users mail boxes increase dramatically,( they are saving the reports in their email) yea sure most user would save them to their local drive but I‘m thinking there needs to be much more efficient way of accessing the reports.
What might work well would be a report catchall user specific and security controlled by active directory
the users are in need of is a repository of saved report in PDF or Excel. I’m pretty sure I can develop the interface for the report retrieval. unfortunately I am having an issue with finding a way to export the reports to a FTP or internal server.

Also I did find this tech note from MSTR but i have emailed them over 5 times in the last months and have not received a response.
Document ID: TN6200-7X0-0270

Any suggestions would be great.

Thanks

One thing you can try is to use the Save to File ITM. It comes with the current versions of narrowcast and can be configured to save to a network share on a web server for instance. You can then write a web page to pull up the documents that you save there and define some security around it.

reisw,
thank you for your quick response.
oddly I did try that but it exports in as a email file, do you know of a what to force it to save as the attachment or possibly PDF?

also i was looking at the XML for the web portal, i wondering if there might be a way to push the report through that instead?

thanks

Are you sure you used the Save to File ITM? You will need to install it if you have anything less than 7.5 I think it might be standard on that version and up. Check out technote TN6200-071-0315. The portal option is also a good idea and it will use the built in security of user ids. Also, if you don't want to do any coding on the web side the portal interface is not too bad.

reisw,
Again, thank you for your quick response.
you were correct I did not have the Sav-to-File ITM enabled though even after i configured it on my NC server I’m only able to save HTML files and only to a local drive.
Example:

Excel files are garbled, and there is not an option for PDF.

As for the physical location. I tried a UNC (but with no luck)

\\servername\sharename\userfolder

I would like to save PDF report files ( for historical purposes) it also looks like it overrides the existing file that was in the local directory.

any thoughts
thanks

I'm not sure what version you're using but what you want to do is possible in 7.5.1 I think. Check out the readmes for narrowcast and it should list the new features in there.
