I have a friend that has a windows 2000 server. It is a dell server. One of the drives failed, they sent a tech to replace it. It is raid 5, so it rebuilt itself. It boots up with no obivious errors. But when I try to administer users I get

"Naming Information cannot be located because: The server is not operational.
Contact your system administrator to verify that your domain is properly configured and is currently online."

I have searced the internet but haven't found anything relevant. Mostly virus related and/or tcp/ip filtering.
Eliminated both of those. Any suggestions or ideas would be greatly appreciated!

this error is usually DNS related. verify that the server NIC is configured with Internal DNS servers only and that the DNS Snap-In lists the ISP DNS on the forwarders tab.

I hope you find this post helpful.
