I have a niggly fault on my 3300 and for the life in me cant resolve!!
Basically I have 4 3300s IP networked.
If i make an internal call on any 3300 the fullname is displayed e.g Joe Bloggs

If i make a call over any IP trunk to the remote 3300 i get initial.surname e.g J.Bloggs

Ive checked the class of service on the set and the trunks, modifying options but cant resolve. I need the full name to be displayed on every call.

Anyone any ideas what may cause this.

All 3300 mxes rel 8 ur5

Thanks in advance

This has been my observation as well. Never became an issue for me so I just accepted it the way it was. I vaguely remember asking my Mitel TAM about it once and I got the "Design Intent" answer.

Basically it is displaying the same as the phonebook does on lookup when an IP trunk is engaged.

People were asking me about it but nobody actually requested to "fix" it.

thanks for the responses, id of thought it was a COS issue.
ill mention to mitel support and see what they say

thanks again

The way around it is not to put a , in between first and last name but remember when people search in the tel dir they will have to search for last name first. For instance in the Tel Dir

BLOGGS JOE would appear. this is the way I got around this on a site who were happy for the last name first. Dont use the User Configuration form to put in names.

mitelmaniac - im guessing in doing that the display on the phone when making a call will also be displayed in the context of surname firstname???

Ive raised a DCR but doubt anything will come of it, customer isint happy as its a large site and they have users with the same initial and surname.

one could use name space surname in either one of the surname or name fields....

have also seen this issue and like kwbmitel just accepted it.

If you're on 8 or above you could use the Search by location new COS option? If you have people with the same names but in different locations, with the COS option number 1 it will default search you location first. The second COS option is that it will display the location after the name so you know which is which

Just a thought of a work around if the complaint is not knowing which one is which
