I’m in search of a way to solve naming convention in a DW.
In order to have a very tide control because of data integration issue, we have tried to establish a set of business terms and to use them also as object names in EDW universes. Business terms are formed accordingly with a set of rules (eq: on the first position is quantity :”No of customers”, “No of requests” etc; on 2-nd position is an attribute “Incoming”, “Outgoing” …etc)
I want to mention that we are using Business Object and here the name of objects is limited to 35 chars!
Even if we tried to apply a shortage procedure over some words (like using “Cust” instead “Customers”, “In” instead of “Incoming”, “Req” instead of “requests”, etc) we still have business terms names longer then 35 chars.
Can you please give some help in this area (or general advice)?
Thanks in advance
