Hi everybody,
I was wondering...
What might cause a nameserver to extremely slow down and disturb the system, e.g.:
-SAMBA stops functioning
-ORACLE DB startup/shutdown taking several minutes with an empty db and no user but root being connected to the system
-changing network adapters taking several minutes
-showing print queue characteristics taking several minutes under smit
--- and so on
As soon as we did "smit --> stop using name resoultion" the system behaviour changed back to normal...
Fact is that it worked before and we never changed a thing in the system configuration.
We need the nameserver for sendmail, because it's the only way to get sendmail to function properly (AIX Version ist 4.3.3, latest ML)...
Can anyone help us with that ?
Thanks in advance.
Regards
Thomas
