sorry couldnt find a more appropriate place to post.
so i have an app - it pings another app, and replys when pinged by other apps, all through named pipes.
when two instances are on my win2k all is ok.
if one(1) is on another pc, and (2) is on mine, then 2 replies to pings but cannot itself ping 1. however if 2 is on a third pc (3), then 1 and 3 communicate just fine - each one pings and replies to pings ok.
what could be wrong with my pc(win2k professional) ?

I never could get the hang
of writing those things.

it turned out security problem.
machines 2 and 3 are domain admins, so when mine - 1 - tried to createfile(pipename) with write permissions it was turned down with access_denied.
thats why when i would start two instances on my computer only, i had no problems.
funny but i couldnt find msdn article 102798, describing some security matters with pipes, and only could find the japanese version of it. luckily all the code samples there are in english :))
