Hi, Having looked at my backup log (Brightstor 11.1) I have this line come up when it is about to backup the brick level mailbox's.

converting connection protocol to named pipes due to connection error.

It does not appear as an error or a warning so no clues are given, it just gives the blue information sign so its ok, but I was wondering what might cause this as I think I would get faster backups and easier restores through TCP/IP. Any ideas anyone?

Paul.

if you're backing up the server under the network section of the backup source browser - try de-selecting the option for 'use agent' for the brick level backup.

Thanks I will try that, however, i thought the agent was suppose to improve throughput? Are you saying that tcp/ip doesnt work very well with the client agent?

The brick level part of the agent doesn't use the client agent. I'm fairly sure it will work if you add an entry for the client agent in the GUI instead and then back it up this way. I think this is only a problem when you drill down the network section of the source tree and click use agent.
