Wonder if anyone can help

each time you start named ( startsrc -s named ) is creates a massive core file in /var/adm/named

Once you rm core and restart named it happens again.

ps -ef | grep named
root 4498 1 0 08:36:15 - 0:00 /usr/sbin/named

however if you

# lssrc -s named
Subsystem Group PID Status
named tcpip inoperative

if you ls /usr/sbin/named is shows

# ls -l /usr/sbin/named
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root system 24 26 Sep 17:32 /usr/sbin/named -> /usr/local/sbin/named921

if you lquerypv -h core 6b0 64 it shows

# lquerypv -h core 6b0 64
000006B0 7FFFFFFF FFFFFFFF 7FFFFFFF FFFFFFFF |................|
000006C0 7FFFFFFF FFFFFFFF 7FFFFFFF FFFFFFFF |................|
000006D0 00120000 135F8C50 00000000 00000011 |....._.P........|
000006E0 6E616D65 64393231 00000000 00000000 |named921........|
000

Does this mean named921 is causing the core file to grow ?

If i use startsrc -s named does this start /usr/local/sbin/named921 ?

I also thought that debugging was on so I have tried to issue

tracesoff -s named

Any ideas as I am sick of this J

What is your Oslevel and Maintenace Level.
