We have a Partner system 7.0 with caller id. When we receive a call from a cell phone the number is displayed but not the name. Is there anyway that we can assign a name to the number so that we know who is calling? Thanks bllybb

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.

As a matter of policy, most cell phone providers will not attach a name to a telephone number.

There is a national database where names & telephone numbers are stored and that database would have to be updated by the cell phone provider in order for a real name to appear on the caller ID screens.

Thanks, Dexman-

I was hoping we could do something similar to assigning a name to a particular phone when using the intercom. I was hoping the system could store a database of names and numbers we would enter and then could match a name to display with a corresponding number coming in on the caller id.

Thanks-

Bllybb

That kind of application is way beyond what the Partner ACS can do. Still the Partner ACS is a good system for what it can do.

A word of caution, the R7 processor has been hobbled by a series of problems. So much so, many Avaya Business Partners will not sell it. They do sell the R6, which is still in production.

If you processor starts to exhibit problems such as losing programming after a power failure even when the memory backup batteries are fresh, it might be worthwhile to go with an R6.

We sell the crap out of the R7's. The "J" patch is supposed to fix all. If one good thing has come out of the whole R7 issue is the reminder of how important it is to backup your programming. How funny is it that the R7 is the first release with internal back up and one of problems is losing programming.

Ironic isn't it. [laughtears]

1043, does the "J" patch allow the system time to be set using caller ID data? There is a rumor going around that it does.

The J" patch is so obscure that even Touchtone Tommy hasn't seen it.

Other then the last R7 problem with memory loss and then no privacy feature on the fix. The R7 is working fine with the newest patch.I have installed it on numerous units and have not had any issues.
I just wish they would have a good cordless phone for this system.

For whatever reason, Avaya can't seem to design a good cordless phone. There have been rumors swirling about that Avaya is either going to, or is currently working with an outside vendor to create a true replacement for the 9040.

Time will tell if the rumor is true.

Try the Engineus line, I have installed a lot of these and they work great with the partner system! They have incredible range with the high gain antenna and you can tie them to an ext. so when the ext. rings so does the cordless handset.
