Hello,

My secondary name server keeps timing out whenever I do a dns check on dnsreport.com. I have no clue why its doing this. I have the zones setup correctly. The primary name server is on Windows 2003 and the secondary name server is on Windows 2000. The primary one responds fine. . . We host our own name servers, so I was thinking maybe I'm missing some setting on the firewall, the Sonic firewall is setup to NAT the secondary name server. Do I need to add a rule or something?

Please help! What should I be looking for? Ports (53)? How do I open up a port if its not open?

Thanks in advance
Nadya

You will need port 53 TCP/UDP open and forwarded to your DNS server.

How do I do that? and how do I test if the port is open already?

Thanks, I just needed to forward the address!!
