I'm running AIX 4.3.3 ML 9,
using NIS and Hosts file for name resolution, NO DNS.

At boot Time the automatic NFS mounts are not performed.
in /var/adm/ras/bootlog the following error is displayed:

in the local Hosts file there are the correct IP adresses for the required machines:

/etc/netsvc.conf contains the following:
hosts = nis, files

When the machine is up, i can mount the NFS filesystems without any problem.

Any idea how i can get the machine to mount the NFS-FS ar startup?

Jaki,

Just a guess but surely this is simply a question of timing. Are you sure the rc.tcpip & rc.nfs subsystems up and running before you try to do these mounts?

It looks like the automatic mouts are perfomed before ypbind deamon is started. Thats why i entered these hosts in the local /etc/hosts File to be able to mount them at startup.

But it still does not work

sorted it out:

I had an error in my /etc/netsvc.conf entry:

changed it from:
hosts = nis, files

to :
hosts = local, nis

after this change local Hosts is used for name resolution at boot time.

Jaki,

Try reversing the nis, hosts entry in netsvc so that it checks hosts first
