Name Res

Hi im having major name res issues on my AIX box. All has worked perfectly till now, there are two windows dns boxes - which are up and operating correctly but nslookup gets "no responce from server" - but they are up and working correctly.

IS there a way to restart the dns client service????

AIX newby here. The resolv.conf file is set up as expected as is the netsvc.conf

Can you ping the dns servers? By name and by IP?

If no then try refreshing the inetd daemon:

refresh -s inetd

Yes i can ping them. I can connect on the port 53 to the servers as well - so i dont really get why name res is not working.

Check your nameservers are in the /etc/hosts file
check you have the correct entires in /etc/resolv.conf

nameserver 192.0.0.0
nameserver 192.0.0.1
domain here.com

(replace with your nameserver IP's and your domain)
