I have a NAM that we have found lying around at one of our companies and it doesn't seem to work, but I figured I would ask and try to find out what to do next.

I see there are 2 ports for phone in the bottom, I take it that those are for the "call-in" ports to the voicemail system????

I gues I may have a plethera of questions just because this is all new to me, but I believe our NAM is toast, but here are a few errors I get. Most of them are memory related because it only has 1 8MB 72-pin SIMM in it. What kind of memory is this?

I know these run on OS/2 but when it starts up I get memory errors about not loading memory

VOXB1 - VOXB3 - D/4x memory not detected

VOXB0 - Board type does not match configuration file

01 DVC boards installed
SYS0002: The system cannot find the file specified

0 file(s) copied

THE PROCESS iDENTIFICATION NUMBER IS 7.

fax0 2c4 unknown board type 0
fax1 2c8 unknown board type 0
fax2 2cc unknown baord type 0
fax3 2d0 unknown baord type 0
Total Channels: 0 TR114; 0 TR112/TR111MC; 0 TR200

The process Indetification number is 9.

At this point it just goes to a command prompt

c:\ACCESS2\RUNTIME]

THANK YOU FOR HELPING A NEWBIE OUT!!!!

Yes the 2 ports hook up to 2 digital ports off the KSU.

You might want to try another memory stick or re-seat it.

Okay, thanks.... What kind of memory do I need to try and find. Any old EDO 72pin SIMM? I tried a couple I had laying around, but no dice..... Thanks!

D/4x memory not detected" may not be an error at all. My guess is check the HD, it may be bad.

The most common memory in older NAMs is IBM 71F7011 which appears to be 70ms w/parity. Since the NAM only has 8MB it is at best a R2, maybe R1. I'd also suspect the hard drive is toast as it is probably 8-10 years old. In my opinion the best course would be to send it out to have it repaired and upgraded to R4.1.

Did it have any floppy disks attached to the cover?
If so, you can just drop in a new HD and restore the keycodes from the disk.

No floppy disks are in the cover.... I wish they were because we do not have the software or anything at this point.

Is there a way I can order the software?

Do a search on eBay for NAM 4.1. There is a guy on there (name is something like bdop...) that sells the hard drives ready to go into most NAM's. You will need to tell him you have a Copper NAM. If you NAM says App Mod 2 on the top, tell him that too.

I have a 4.0.04c Copper NAM HD but not the NAM 2.

Okay thank! I called him and we verified that my NAM is toast.

I have another couple questions if someone has some answers....

1) How do you log into another mailbox on a Nortel System?
Reason: I need to change the greetings on someone else's voice mailbox.

2) How do you unlock a voice mailbox? Everytime I enter the password to a certain mailbox, it says "Mailbox locked, contact admin."

1.You would need to know the password or see 2.

2.You need to reset the password in VM Mailbox admin.
Do F983 and login, press Mbox, press chng, enter mb#, press reset. This will default the mb password to 0000.
You will need to pick a new password when you login.

Okay that worked, so now how do I access a different mailbox from my phone set to make Admin and Greeting changes for them?

Thanks!
