I have a NAM that is out of service and I'm trying to find out what I have (# of ports, capabilities, etc.) I've taken down all information off the NAM unit and need an interpretation?

Nortel Numbers listed on the NAM:
NT5B74AABJ
Rls 01 Mod V3G
(Ver 4.0.04A)
NTBB80AA

Slot # and Cards installed:
Slot1 Empty
Slot2 Modem Card
Slot3 Video/NIC Card
Slot4 Fiber Connector Card

Inside the front door jack is a floppy disk labeled:
SEKUR/Capabilities File
Backup 12-15-99

I'm unable to install the unit to veiw the number of Channels using Feature 915 (I don't have an 0X32 and fiber expansion card) and I would like to know the capabilities of the NAM. Any assistance is appreciated!

So to say, the NAM boots off of the KSU fiber port.
The OS2 operating system boots up and the ACCESS server nneeds handshaking with the norstar to complete the boot process - so without a compatible KSU you cannot verify if the NAM is good or bad

4.0.04A is a buggy version - the corresponding good version is 4.0.04C

Thanks for your response! I understand the need for a compatible KSU to check if the unit is good or bad. I'm trying to find out if you can tell anything about the NAM by the part numbers that Nortel has on it's sticker/labels on the unit itself. Thanks again!

nt5b74 is the part number for a NAM - it can be anywhere from 2 to 16 ports voicemail, depending on the keycodes.
If you have 2 MSPEC cards then it is a max of 16 voicemails ports, if you have 1 MSPEC card then the max ports is 8

thats all we can conclude

errm...
if I am not mistaken, NO MSPEC cards is maximum 8 ports, one MSPEC is max 16 and 2 MSPEC is max (32?) somewhere along that line memory (ram) will have to be upgraded as well.

the nice part about being at 4.04a is you shouldn't need a keycode to upgrade to 4.1. I have run into one or two that did need a keycode though...

I have a replacement HD that will make this a 4.1 NAM. You can buy them on eBay, too. Just need to restore you keycodes after the HD is replaced. What I can tell you about the NAM you have is it is the last of it's kind. (i.e. You have the last version Nortel will ever sell.) It's a great unit because it comes will all the bells and whistles (NIC,VGA,ps2's)
